It's around 7pm Thurs. and I finally just got home a few min. ago. Phew....long day. I'd be about miller time, if my throat didn't hurt so bad and I wasn't quite so tired. One more day....that's all....just one more day. Get through teaching tomorrow and Sat. shouldn't be bad. Anyhow...you get the picture....I'm a bit run down.
But...........
.....it's my birthday! It's my birthday. Well....ok...that came out sounding better with me humming in my head, but you get the point. My first birthday in Korea. Hmmm....thought it would go by uneventful, but it actually turned out ok. I got to lunch today with the other camp teachers and they all gave me their well wishings. Ah....ok, sure. I'll admit though, that I was a little disappointed. Tim's birthday was on Mon. and they had a big 'ol cake for him. But....anyhow....we got to eating and hanging out during out break. Peter, a Korean employee, bailed out for a few min. and I didn't think much of it. He's always running around. He was sweet though...cuz about 10 min. later, in he walked with another cake. Apparently everybody knew and they were just messin with me a bit. All in good fun.....so....I guess I got my cake (even chocolate) and munched it too....
That's not the best part though. As we were arriving I saw a couple of girls from my class at around 12:30 at school. Mind you, classes don't start until 1:30. Get this....while we were all eating our lunches, they were setting up a little surprise for me in our room. They had me fooled. I just figured they came early just "because". I strolled out of lunch and went to go to the room and about the only thing different I noticed upon getting near the door was that the windows were covered over. Didn't much phase me though. They scared the daylights outta me when I opened the door and all of them were standing there busting confetti open and throwing balloons and wishing me happy birthday. I nearly jumped out of my skin, but it was so sweet of them. They all gave me cards and little stuff too..that was all in English. I just kinda thought to myself afterwards.....how in the world can I really teach them a semi boring workbook lesson for an hour now? Well, I kinda didn't. Oh well. I played a game with them. They deserved it. It came out all right in the end.
